Nitya Balan, DDS

A glance at patient testimonials reveals the extraordinary depth of compassion and care that shapes Dr. Balan’s Austin dental practice.

As a young child, Dr. Balan experienced several dental challenges and endured many uncomfortable visits to the dentist. This early discomfort led to her commitment to create a practice where each patient receives their care in an atmosphere of compassion and comfort, with attention to patient convenience and the highest of dental practice principles.

Even during dental school her patients were surprised by the painless clinical exam and treatment they received at her hands. Many of them said that she would be the kind of dentist that they could depend on for the best possible care and the most comfortable of experiences.

As a professional with over 15 years of experience, Dr. Balan has a unique and distinguished background in dentistry. She obtained her first professional dentistry degree in India. In 2002, she attended Ohio State University, gaining a second dentistry degree. She graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.

A recent transplant to Austin, she loves the city and, as a former Buckeye, she now enthusiastically embraces the Longhorns!

Her professional expertise includes crowns, root canal treatments, complete and partial dentures, Invisalign®, and other customary dental and cosmetic procedures. Her commitment to conscientious and professional excellence keeps her constantly improving her skills through continuing education courses.

She is experienced in caring for the dental needs of all her patients, from children as young as 2 years old to an elderly, 92-year-old senior. Patients who in the past have been afraid of dental procedures or who have had other concerns find her compassion and skill completely reassuring.

Being a mom herself, with 12-year-old twins of her own, Dr. Balan prides herself in being able to relate to and effectively treat small children and in helping their moms deal with the stress of dental appointments. She has treated people from all over the world, including British, Irish, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Indian patients to name just a few, and is comfortable with people from varied backgrounds. She is multilingual and speaks Tamil and Hindi, as well as English.

On a personal note, Dr. Balan has been happily married for 17 years. She loves spending time with her family, both in cooking healthy meals and helping her children with various school and other projects.
